A Piece of History Joins the Cast of NBC’s 'Protection'

From Our Showroom to the Screen: A Piece of History Joins the Cast of NBC’s 'Protection'

At Le Historique, we believe that every antique has a story. Whether it has spent the last two centuries in a quiet country home or is about to embark on a new chapter in the spotlight, each piece brings a unique character to its surroundings.

We are thrilled to share that one of our favorite recent acquisitions—a magnificent early 19th-century English Oak drop-leaf tavern table—has been cast in its next role. This stunning piece of history was recently acquired by a film and television studio to serve as a key set piece in the pilot episode of the upcoming NBC drama series, Protection.

There is something poetic about placing an authentic piece of early 1800s English craftsmanship into a modern high-stakes drama. The rich patina, the sturdy oak construction, and the ingenious gateleg design—features that once served tavern guests or family meals centuries ago—will now provide a grounded, historical anchor for the intense world of the fictitious Thornhill family.

About 'Protection'

Protection is currently one of the most anticipated pilots in development at NBC. Created by Gossip Girl veteran Josh Safran and executively produced by Jenna Bush Hager, the series promises a gripping narrative.

The plot centers on the Thornhill family, a dynasty of law enforcement agents who find themselves targeted by a mysterious assassin following the line-of-duty death of a U.S. Marshal. The series stars Peter Krause—marking his highly anticipated return to television—alongside a talented ensemble including Kat Cunning and Taylor Bloom.

While the network is currently evaluating several pilots for the 2026–27 season, the buzz surrounding this project is significant. We are proud to know that when the cameras roll on the pilot, our English oak table will be right there in the heart of the action.

Bring the Cinematic Quality Home

While this particular table is now busy filming, it serves as a perfect reminder of the timeless appeal of authentic period antiques. Whether used as a dining centerpiece, a console, or an accent piece, an antique tavern table offers a blend of utility and history that modern reproductions simply cannot replicate. We invite you to explore our current collection at Le Historique to find your own piece of history. Who knows? You might just find the next show-stopping addition to your own home.
