Antique Dutch Pronkstilleven Still Life – Manner of Abraham van Beijeren

Sale price$1,145.00

This oil on panel is a quintessential example of the Dutch Golden Age style, specifically the Pronkstilleven—a genre of "ostentatious" or "sumptuous" still life. Executed in the masterful manner of Abraham van Beijeren (1620–1690), this work captures the lavish abundance and delicate lighting that defined 17th-century Dutch banquet pieces. The composition is set against a dark, moody background to emphasize the play of light and follows the style typical of masters like Abraham van Beijeren.

Monogrammed JHVD (?)
Late 19th or early 20th century; Netherlands

Condition commensurate with age.  Minor nicks and dings to the frame. Some craquelure present along the surface of the painting with possible in-filling over the exposed gesso.  A few minor paint losses along the upper margin due to a previous frame mounting and along a few areas of the overall painted surface.
